Traditionally men were the big drinkers and they suffered all the social and health consequences associated with regular, over-indulgence. Now women have become regular drinkers, often over-indulging without realising that the health consequences for women are more serious than for men. We may want equality for women but unfortunately alcohol discriminates between the sexes to our detriment.
